Logo Mania : Are logos back in for 2016?

After reading this article by The Zoe Report discussing logos and if they’re making a comeback made me think if this trend that was all the rage when I was in middle and high school is making a come back. I remember wearing nothing but logo tees in middle school. They were so easy to wear, I’m a bit ashamed to admit but in middle school I had every color tee of Tommy Girl and in high school I had every color tee of Abercrombie & Fitch. But that’s mostly what was available. Wearing a logo tee meant status. You were “cool” if you had a tee with the hottest brand on it. Once Baby Phat, JLo, and Rocawear came on the scene I had those tees too. Living a small town I kept my style rather simple, flare jeans and a logo tee, even when it wasn’t a tee, every piece in my closet had some kind of logo on it.

When I started playing more with styles and trends I quickly turned my back on logos. I didn’t buy anything that had a logo on it and gave away almost everything that had some kind of brand on it. I guess I could call it a cleanse. This was also the time that logo strong brands started to suffer.

But now the tides are changing. Higher brands are starting to embrace the demand of their brand and this style is becoming mainstream.

I personally love it. When the logo is expressed in an artistic way instead of a half-ass design like my middle school tees than I’m on board. It’s a fun ways to make an outfit more casual. Pair up some boyfriend jeans and pumps with with a logo top and you’re ready to walk from show to show on the streets of NYC.
