The Silk Romper That Deserves More Attention
I’m starting to think Elie Tahari might be one of fashion’s most underrated labels.
Exhibit A: the Carly Silk Lace Romper.
She’s dusty rose. She’s trimmed in delicate ivory lace. She has that slightly undone, lingerie-inspired silhouette that looks like you wandered out of a very expensive hotel suite and somehow ended up at dinner looking fabulous.
And most importantly: she’s 100% silk.
Not “silky.” Not a polyester satin pretending to be silk. Actual silk.
The Carly is currently $428, with adjustable spaghetti straps, a softly relaxed silhouette and a lightweight drape that gives the whole thing that effortless, liquid quality silk does so beautifully.
In a market where it is becoming completely normal to see synthetic dresses pushing $500, $700—or much more—the fact that this is a fully silk, genuinely fashion-forward piece for under $500 feels increasingly noteworthy.
And that color.
The dusty rose keeps it romantic without becoming sugary. Pair it with chocolate brown, oxblood leather, pointed heels, a dramatic coat, oversized sunglasses… suddenly what could have been “lingerie” becomes an entire fall fashion moment.
That may actually be my favorite thing about it: it isn’t precious.
Wear it bare and feminine. Toughen it up with leather. Throw a giant knit over it. Add boots. Add gloves. Add too much jewelry.
It can be sweet, sexy, weird, glamorous, or slightly inappropriate for wherever you’re going—which usually means it’s exactly right.
